Frida Lara is originally from Veracruz, México. From a very young age she has shown a special interest in diving and traveling. Frida completed her degree in Marine Biology in Yucatan and her Master's degree at the University of London. During her training she has worked in different projects in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. In 2014 she affiliated to Pelagios Kakunjá as a PhD student to carry out her research project on the distribution patterns of sharks in the Revillagigedo Archipelago and their connectivity in the Eastern Tropical Pacific. In 2018 she graduated with honors at CICIMAR-IPN. Her doctoral studies brought her to become a member of the MigraMar network, in which she has actively participated since 2016. She worked at Pelagios Kakunjá from 2018 to 2020 as data analyst, focusing on telemetry analyses, network analyses, and BRUVS, in support of the projects carried out by the organization with different species.
